Improvised Electronic Music
Although there are tons of elements of improvisation in electronic music, as a jazz musician, I wanted to try to take it a step further. I am in the process of developing this set up where I can make electronic songs on the spot.. This is much different than my usual process of composing an electronic song so I have been in the studio working on it, and am excited that I have gotten to the point where I can book some live shows! Insomnia
Here I am, up at 5:30 for the second time this week!! I’ve gotta to slow down my mind and get some normal sleep… In the meantime I figured I’d post a new youtube video of Stephanie and I doing an old jazz standard “Come Rain or Come Shine”…
New video with Stefania
Today I recorded a video and played piano for Stephanie’s new dance song “You’re What I want”.. It’s usually an electronic, hardcore dance song, but we through together an arrangement for piano and voice.. It was SOOOO fun.. First of all, I have never recorded a video, and secondly I’ve never mic’d up my OLD (1898, I’m not kidding you) upright piano.. I thought both ventures came out well, and I learned a ton about shooting and editing video, and micing pianos. I also recorded my sister Emily playing “I’ll remember you” on the piano.. She made a killer arrangement for it! I will post it when I finish editing…
Check out the video, and Stefania’s website musicbystefania.com you can pick up her last Latin CD Sonadora on itunes, amazon, and CDbaby.. Her new English CD is scheduled to come out in November…
Electronic Album almost finished…
This week I’m working out the kinks in my (soon to be released) electronic album… It’s the details in the mix that always drive me nuts before I send the final mixes to be mastered! I ALWAYS find a ton of stuff that I want to change at the last minute.. I also have to decide on titles for everything (mostly done) and track order etc… Can’t wait to get through these details and back to making music… It’s really tough to do all this stuff on your own.. Sometimes I feel like it might be a better idea to just pay someone to mix the tracks for me…
Anyway, you can check out a sample track from my upcoming album on my website..
